One of my favorite photos from our recent hiking excursion in Tennessee and North Carolina.
Taken from Roan Mountain.

Fun on City Island

I recently met up with The Lititz Cookers on City Island in Harrisburg. We had such a fun afternoon exploring and being together. We wrapped up our visit with dinner at Isaac's, a local sandwich restaurant that uses bird names for every item on the menu.

Bristol (VA and TN)

A couple weeks ago Heather asked if I might be keen to get away for Memorial Day weekend...

Last Tuesday we decided to head to Bristol, TN where Heather had searched out a super cute, historic Airbnb.

After work Friday, we joined the thousands of other travelers on the main roads of America, heading south to our destination.

We spent the weekend exploring the area, with a specific emphasis on hiking in the nearby Appalachian Mountains.

More posts coming soon...

big bags of bagels

Last week I provided transportation for the (day old) Panera pan {bread} to Spanish church.
I have never seen such massive bags of bagels, and felt they were deserving of their own photo/blog moment!

Morning

The best part of every day.

(and a part I've been seeing a lot of when I get up early to study before work)

Pink

a little girl's dream tree

One of the perks of living different places is experiencing new flora. This is the first time I've lived in a house with a pink tree, and wow was it ever stunning!

favorite

Mom was cleaning out recently,
and last month when I was home I took a picture of one of my favorite childhood outfits.
This was my preferred wardrobe pick for Bible Study Fellowship day (Tuesday? Thursday? I can't remember...) when I used to go to the pre-school kids' class while Mom was in her Bible study once a week.

the story of our Sink Hole

note the warning cones marking the hole

Once upon a time last October, we discovered a hole in our front yard...
Turns out it was a small looking hole on top, and a hollow space large enough for a bear (or a small family of bears?? not sure...) to hibernate underneath the surface of the yard!
Oh no.

I learned a few things about sink holes the last few months:
Namely, they are very common in this area.
Also, they usually don't "swallow" houses here, and... are often repairable for around $10,000 (gulp!).

I thought you might like to see our local tax dollars at work repairing our big hole (thank you God, the sink hole was close to the road, and thus the responsibility of the township to repair).

down, down, down

no more hole!

I should have taken one final shot to show how beautifully the new grass has come up.
We are enjoying the return of a proper front lawn lacking a sink hole :).
