grief with hope

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

-1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

Our family has spent the past week+ grieving the sudden loss of cousin Carmen's husband Jimmy. There is no human comprehension available to understand why it was time for husband/daddy Jimmy to leave the earth at this time to go home to be with Jesus instead of remaining here with his wife and nine children.

But we grieve with hope.

  1. I've been listening to the book Imagine Heaven by John Burke. It has given me a better understanding of the hope we have and a longing for our real home. The sadness for a family left behind... still hard to understand.
