Hiking at Boyd Big Tree Preserve

This past weekend's outdoor exploration was to Boyd Big Tree Preserve just north of Harrisburg.

I was too busy swatting flies to take pictures along our 4 mile loop hike.

We did, however, manage to kill a handful of invasive Spotted Lanternfly insects. 

It was fun to explore a new area with varied trails.

Cumberland Valley Overlook

 

I spent a couple hours on the trail again last weekend. It had been too long since my hikers took me to this portion of the Appalachian Trail (around 5.5 miles out and back just south of Darlington Shelter). 

A good view-- like the Cumberland Valley Overlook-- is always rewarding after a rigorous climb.

Projects

I spent some time with my sewing machine recently, and was pleased with the tea towel I embellished.

I also recently tried my hand at baking crusty French baguettes, and was not pleased with the plain 'ol French bread I managed to create instead...

Dad's gourmet sweet corn is best.

Recently friends who were passing by delivered a dozen ears for our enjoyment... 

all the way out here in Pennsylvania :).

What a treat.

Rocky Ridge take II

Sharon and I spent a couple hours Monday morning on the AT (Appalachian Trail), hiking up to Rocky Ridge and scrambling boulders atop the ridge. 

Last November was our first time to hike up to Rocky Ridge, but this time we hiked in from the opposite direction.

home office: take... ??? [another iteration]

 

My home office received another upgrade recently. 

If you thought my clothes were looking extra wrinkly throughout the past year and a half... that may have been due in part to the fact that our ironing board was fully engaged in holding up my computer monitor... 

2021 office upgrades have included:

>>a corner lamp

>>a new office chair, and now 

>>this sturdy little table to hold my monitor!

An old Nike shoe box and a thick textbook remain integral pieces of my office set up,

providing some opportunities for potential future upgrades.
