Sara and I are great list-makers. In fact, we are
professional list-makers
(er, maybe that’s actually “volunteer" list-makers).
We make lists of items:
Stuff in the guesthouse kitchens
Things to buy in Lusaka
What’s in the freezer
Things to buy in Lusaka
What’s in the freezer
We make work lists:
Projects to tackle
Instructions to give
Banking needs
We make reminder lists:
Last minute items to pack
Bookings to confirm
People to contact
We make planning lists:
Weekly errands
Class schedules
Menu items
Etc.
(oops… I see I even make lists of lists…)
One of my favorite lists is one we started last January. It
hangs our fridge next to a list of meat prices from the neighbor’s and a
list of food in the freezer. It’s called, “Places We’d Love to Visit.”
We put all sorts of big dreams on that list, including:
-Hike Mount Mulanje (in Malawi)
-Go out for back massages in Blantyre
-Tour Munali Farms
-Visit Jake and Nancy (our regional boss in Zimbabwe), and
-Ride the train to Livingstone (hum... not sure if that's going to happen as it departs Choma after dark and arrives at two in the morning!!... but it was still a great idea...).
Short of a few miracles, we’ll not be able to visit all the places on our list before we leave Zambia, but we’ve sure had a lot of fun adventures crossing some of the items off from our list.

And... we still have three weeks in which we're planning to go a few more places and do a few more things-- like visit Lake Kariba!
I'll keep you posted.
I'll keep you posted.
From one list lover to another....have fun crossing off.
ReplyDeletePS: We are headed for our annual 8 days of Sukkot camping. I'm busy making lots of lists too!
Ha ha. Lists are great. We talked in Psychology class about the benefit of lists to some people. We found out the three of us in the room admitted to writing "shower" on the list, just so we could cross it off!
