we got him!

*Another post that is not for Mom*

The Shenks (our regional boss) took us back to Bulawayo with them Monday (7th). On the way, we met up with a snake crossing the road. There was a small "babump" as we ran over this slithery reptile, and Jake was so proud of the kill that we turned around and stopped to snap a few photos.

To all the other Cookers: does this remind you of Uncle Paul and wood chucks?  ;)

  1. One shot makes me think of a fishing photo the way he is holding it up to show the size. Did you ID the type of snake?

We have had a couple of rattlers loose their rattles (and their heads as well) this past week. They have been found in the dog fence built for the three huskies that are living in the wash while our driveway friends are here. They are probably seeking the water the dogs have. Makes me a little nervous to work in the yard.

  2. That was one. large. snake. Glad he has been cut off! I'm curious to know the type of snake as well. And I am STRUGGLING to understand your aunt's comment.:-) Huskies living in "the wash?" What is that? And what are "driveway friends?" Also, I need to email you something. If I can't find your email address, I may contact you again...

  4. funny thing about this snake is that we weren't quite sure what kind he was. I mean- not surprising that I couldn't ID him... but, even with Jake's years and years of experience killing snake he wasn't completely sure which type this one was. He looked it up in a book back in Bulawayo, and noted features of it like a couple different types of snakes. I sent him the pictures we took, so perhaps he has identified it by now. My snake ID skills are non-existent...
